Solutions / Smarter Digital Commerce

Commerce on your terms,
built on Medusa

Medusa calls itself open-source agentic commerce: a commerce engine from Copenhagen, built to be customised by developers and AI. We build stores on it that fit the way you sell, to consumers or to other businesses, with code you own and hosting in Europe.

MIT-licensed core, headless and written in TypeScript. You pay for the build and the hosting, not for a licence.

Why Medusa Platform modernisation
Flexibility

Commerce logic
shaped around you

Most commerce platforms make you sell the way they were built. Medusa is a set of commerce modules behind an API: products and bundles, multiple sales channels, inventory across warehouses, regions with their own currencies and tax rules, and promotions including B2B pricing. What it does not do out of the box, we add in code. That is where it earns its place for customer-specific pricing, volume offers and logistics rules.

Headless by design

The storefront, the admin and your other systems all talk to the same API.

Modules, not workarounds

Custom rules live in your own modules instead of in a stack of third-party apps.

Your data model

Products, customers and prices are shaped the way your business works.

Four reasons

Why we build
on Medusa

Flexible

Customer-specific pricing, B2B customer groups, volume offers and logistics rules are code in your project, not a compromise with a template.

European

Medusa was founded in Copenhagen. We host your store on European infrastructure, on Hetzner or Azure, with data residency and GDPR in mind.

Open source

The core is MIT-licensed. You can read every line, extend it and move it, and you are never tied to one vendor's roadmap or price list.

Built for AI-assisted development

Medusa is built to be customised by AI: its framework gives agents guardrails, and it ships MCP and agent tooling. We add a written spec first and a senior engineer's review on every line.

What we build

From storefront
to ERP

One team for the whole chain, from the page a customer sees to the order your warehouse ships.

Storefront

A fast Next.js frontend on Medusa's API, built to be found on Google and cited by AI answers.

ERP and data

Integrations between Medusa and your ERP, so stock, prices and orders stay the same everywhere.

Integration and development →

B2B logic

Customer groups, negotiated prices and volume offers for businesses that buy from you.

Payments

Vipps MobilePay, Quickpay and Stripe, connected to Medusa as payment providers.

Our payment gateways →

Agentic commerce

An open API that AI agents can work with, for product recommendations, dynamic pricing, inventory and customer support.

Hosting and operations

Docker-based hosting on Hetzner or Azure, with automated deployments and monitoring.

Payments

Three payment gateways
we know inside out

We focus on three payment gateways and know them in depth, from the first checkout to refunds. Each one connects to Medusa as a payment provider.

Vipps MobilePay

Vipps MobilePay

The Nordic mobile wallet, formed when Vipps and MobilePay merged. Customers pay the way they already do on their phone, and we connect it to Medusa as a payment provider.

Quickpay

Quickpay

A Danish payment gateway, now part of Unzer. Card payments for Danish and Nordic shops through one integration, connected to Medusa as a payment provider.

Stripe

Stripe

Cards, wallets and subscriptions for stores that sell across borders, through Medusa's official Stripe payment module.

HOW A PROJECT RUNS

Assessment first, fixed price after

The same method we use for platform modernisation: we look at how you sell today before anyone writes code.

  1. 1 · Assessment

We map your products, pricing, integrations and what slows you down today.

    Assessment
  2. 2 · Written spec

Every module and integration starts as a spec you can read and approve, with a fixed price.

    Spec
  3. 3 · Build in increments

AI-assisted, engineer-led development, with tests and reviews on every change.

    Build
  4. 4 · Launch and handover

Go-live on European hosting, and a team that knows how to run and extend the store.

Common questions
Is Medusa free?

Medusa's core is open source under the MIT licence, so there is no licence fee for it. You pay for the development and the hosting.

Can we use Medusa Cloud instead?

Yes. Medusa offers its own Cloud, where you pay for the infrastructure with no extra licence or GMV fee, and we can build for it. When you want the store on European infrastructure that we run for you, we self-host the open-source code on Hetzner or Azure.

Is Medusa the right choice for every store?

No. For a standard shop that fits a template, Shopify is often faster to launch. Medusa pays off when your pricing, products or logistics do not fit a template, or when you want to own the code and where it runs.

Can it handle B2B?

Yes. Customer groups, customer-specific prices and volume offers are built as part of your store, and we connect them to your ERP so the data stays consistent.

Where does our data live?

On European infrastructure. We host on Hetzner or Azure, with data residency and GDPR in mind, and the code is yours.

How do you use AI in development?

AI agents draft code and tests from a written spec, inside tests, static analysis and CI gates. Senior engineers review every line and stay accountable for security and quality.
